Highway 3 vehicle collision results in one fatality

CLARKSVILLE – On March 11 at 9:23 p.m., Brady Lee Cashatt, 31 of Parkersburg, was killed in an accident while heading northbound on Quail Avenue, approaching the intersection at Highway 3.

The Iowa State Patrol’s official crash report states Cashatt failed to stop at the stop sign, striking the front driver side of Mark John Behrends, 57 of Carroll. Behrends was driving a semi truck westbound along Highway 3. The report further states that Behrends’ semi rolled into the northwest ditch along Highway 3 and Cashatt’s vehicle also rolled, landing upright on Highway 3.

Cashatt, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was killed in the collision and was transported to Waverly Health Center by Clarksville EMS. Allison EMS transported Behrends to Waverly Health Center with injuries. The severity of Behrends’ injuries were not stated in the report.

This crash is currently under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Officers were assisted at the scene by Clarksville Fire, EMS, Police, Allison Fire and EMS, the Butler County Sheriff’s Department and McDivitt’s Towing.
