WATERLOO – The atmosphere was prime for what turned out to be a good battle between non-conference rivals at Waterloo Bucks’ Riverfront Stadium on Thursday, July 6.
North Butler took an early lead only to have Hampton-Dumont rally to tie it and force extra innings.
And the Bearcats thwarted bases loaded, one out in the sixth inning, bases full and nobody out in the seventh and cut down H-D trying to score from first on a double in the eighth, then turned around to score the go-ahead run in the ninth.
But it was far from over at that point as Caleb Chaney came through in the end with a bases loaded two-run hit to end this with a 3-2 victory for the Bulldogs.
