Groundbreaking for All-Veterans Memorial

Golden shovels were at work August 1 as the All-Veterans Memorial Committee broke ground for the Memorial.  The Fund Drive reached its goal of $150,000, and work on the memorial began this week.
     The committee, consisting of Karen Alberts, Rick Wangsness, Deb Hummel, Alice Schwab and Greta Cordes started raising funds for the project in 2015. They thought it only appropriate that Allison, the county seat, should have a memorial to honor veterans.
     The first donation came in on Memorial Day, and in November, the committee began working in earnest on the community project. The committee held a fundraiser with an auction, meal and dance on July 26, and the Lions hosted a fish fry.  
     Land for the memorial was donated by the Virgil and Dana Shepard family.
