Greene River Days

Shell Rock River flooding abated just in time for Greene River Days festivities to kick off.
     A highlight of the Friday evening festivities was the crowning of Sarah Goodrich as the 2018 River Days Queen and Miss Congeniality. Alexis Stirling was crowned first runner-up, and Jenna Hauser was second runner-up. Aliza Wadey and Lincoln Schroeder were Little Miss and Little Mr. Greene.
     Food tents were open, and the Minions characters returned for a meet and greet.
     On Saturday, the day started early with a 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by the Greene Area Chamber of Commerce and Community Foundation. Darin Schuknecht (36) was the overall winner of the 5K with a time of 17:42. He was followed by Dan Schuknecht (37), who had a time of 18:52. Two other runners, Eric Brehmer (16) and Colby Wilkerson (15), both finished under 20 minutes with times of 19:43 and 19:44, respectively. Sarah Faith Carson (16) was the top female finisher, with a time of 23:10.
