The Glenn Miller Orchestra always seems to draw a crowd, and their performance Sunday evening at Wilder Park in Allison was no exception. According to Duane Feltz of the Park Board, about 500 were in attendance.
“I greatly enjoyed it. As always, they bring the World War II era to life as only authentic music from a certain historical period can,” said Laura Severs of Clarksville. “Music can be a marvelous time machine, when one knows the historicity of it, and they succeeded in transporting me mentally to the 1940s.”
The Glenn Miller Orchestra performed a variety of favorites including “A String of Pearls,” “Sentimental Journey” and “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” showcasing both vocalists and instrumentalists.
Had it not been for threatening clouds and rain the previous evening, Feltz believes the audience would likely have been even bigger—closer to last year’s turnout of 960.
