City clerks from around Butler County and a few other officials discussed flood recovery at Clarksville City Hall on Friday, Nov. 18. Clarksville City Council heard the news on Monday, Nov. 21.
OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS: Clarksville Clerk Larry Betts said the city recently was notified it was selected to receive a $780,000 Community Development Block Grant Opportunities and Threats award for housing rehabilitation, for which all reimbursement will go through City Hall.
The granted amount is technically “not to exceed 779,980.” It is granted through Iowa Economic Development Association/U.S. Housing and Urban Development. The grant is pending environmental approval from the state and other stipulations. In order to proceed, the city was informed it will need to sign a contract with IEDA by Jan. 16, 2017.
On Dec. 1, officials from the city are scheduled to meet with others from Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments and start the paperwork process, Betts said.
