An early Tuesday morning fire claimed an unoccupied home at 120 W Walnut Street in Clarksville. The house was under renovation.
“There were flames showing out of the east side of the house when we got there,” Clarksville fire chief Jon Myers said. “Structurally, the house isn’t sound anymore. A lot of floor joints were burned through.”
The house is considered a total loss. The fire burned through the basement and damaged up to the ceiling rafters.
Myers said he believes the fire started in the basement, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation. A neighbor noticed smoke and alerted authorities.
