Fire in rural Butler County

Monday evening at around 4:30 p.m. about 30 to 40 hay and cornstalk round bales were destroyed by fire in rural Greene on 140th Street north of Clarksville.
     The Greene Fire Department responded and was assisted by the Clarksville fire department, the Butler County Sheriff’s office dispatch and EMS.  
     “I heard a trash fire was lit. … It caught onto a round bale and went from there,” said Greene fire chief Neal Nordmeyer.
     Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours.
