Insurance Services Office recently reviewed the Clarksville fire district through its Public Protection Classification program. The fire district’s rating has increased from seven to five. This rating is based on the Clarksville fire department, city water supply and Dispatch at the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
“It’s a pretty substantial improvement…” said fire chief Jon Myers. “I think there’s room for more improvement, and a rating of four is not out of the question as I thought it was before we started. We’re really close to jumping up another spot.”
Although homeowners shouldn’t expect a huge windfall on insurance, the improved rating should help reduce premiums.
“A lot of people may not realize what this huge improvement in ISO rating means,” said councilman Jeff Kolb. “One other town in the county had theirs go down five years ago, and people’s rates went sky high because of the rating change. … People don’t realize when we maintain good equipment, it’s not so much an expenditure as an investment.”
