Father Joshua Jacobs distributes communion for the first time. Before distributing communion, he reminds the faithful whom they are going to receive by saying, “Behold the Lamb of God, behold Him who taketh away the sin of the world.” (Submitted photo.)

What takes a parts man at Phelp’s Implement in Greene and transforms him into a priest? If you ask Father Joshua Jacobs, it’s God’s grace.

Jacobs was ordained on July 7 at St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Buckingham County, Virginia. Though back home in Greene for now, Jacobs will soon leave to serve in Sanford, Florida.

“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me,” is Father Jacob’s motto.

A 2004 graduate of Greene High School, Jacobs studied diesel mechanics for two years and worked as a parts man at Phelp’s Implement for six years.
