Faces at North Butler: Meet Connie Moss

For North Butler special education teacher Connie Moss, helping kids learn is a lifelong passion.
     Moss has taught at North Butler her entire career—for the past 28 years. But her passion for teaching started in third grade.
     “I had a great teacher. I loved school, and I really loved to read,” Moss said. “As I got older I thought I just wanted to share that love of reading with kids.”
     After graduating from high school, she majored in elementary education at UNI. She considered becoming a classroom teacher, but while student teaching, she discovered she particularly enjoyed working in special education. Moss earned her special education certification, and took a position at what is now North Butler. The idea of working in a smaller community appealed to her.
