“If you have hard work and determination, you can get wherever you want to go in life,” said special education teacher Jackie Zeien.
Becoming a teacher was a life-long goal for Zeien, beginning when she was in elementary school. Her sister had special needs, and she always felt compassion and wanted to be able to help people.
Zeien received her BA in elementary education from the University of Iowa. She stayed in Iowa City for about a year and then moved to the Waverly area where she worked as a substitute teacher. Zeien earned her special education endorsement from UNI. She became a special education teacher at Clarksville 15 years ago.
