For Clarksville junior high and senior high social studies teacher Bob Goeller, helping students learn critical thinking skills is a priority.
“You can tell when they understand, a light goes on. That never gets old,” Goeller said. “It’s pretty rewarding to see.”
Classes this school year include social studies for seventh and eighth grades, American History for sophomores, American Government for juniors and seniors and alternating courses on sports history and contemporary issues.
Goeller generally arrives about an hour before school starts to get ready for the day. During first hour, he works with seventh graders. At present the class is talking about sub-Saharan Africa and conflicts that occurred there, such as the genocide in Rwanda.
