All Butler County officials retained their seats in the election yesterday. Republicans retained the Iowa Governorship, House and Senate as well as the U.S. Senate. Democrats won the U.S. House of Representatives.
     U.S. District 4 Representative Steve King was re-elected with 50.33 percent of the vote to J.D. Scholten’s 46.96 percent.
     State Senator for District 37, Democrat Amanda Ragan narrowly defeated challenger Shannon Latham with 12,762 votes to 12,285.
     “It is a privilege of a lifetime to represent the families of North Iowa in the Iowa Senate,” Ragan said. “I have worked hard to make sure your concerns are heard in our capital, and I will continue to dedicate myself to ensuring North Iowa remains a great place to live, work and raise a family.”
