The North Butler School Board on Tuesday, Nov. 9 approved budget modification to the original contract related to groundwater testing at the brownfield site where the fuel oil tank came out, by the former Greene Elementary.
The school received a letter from contractor Cardno ATC, which was earlier awarded the project.
The firm took a groundwater sample in the first testing, then had to remove the tank, NB Superintendent Joel Foster said. When it drilled a second set of holes, water was not found.
Now the Department of Natural Resources says three holes must be drilled through the bedrock to sample the groundwater.
