Defense seeks variance, overall reconsideration of breed ban

ALLISON — An attorney defending two recent Allison transplants against a simple misdemeanor charge they face for harboring a pit bull addressed Allison City Council on Monday, June 22.
  On March 16, City Attorney Martin Petersen accused Becky and Justin Schrage of keeping a dangerous animal, a pit bull, a simple misdemeanor criminal charge. A jury trial for the couple has been continued. The pre-trial conference is presently slated for 11 a.m. July 21. [...]
  "We have two primary goals tonight," said Josh Moon, an attorney representing the Schrages. "Our first goal is to request from you, the City Council members, a variance under this ordinance. Under certain circumstances the ordinance allows members of the City Council to grant a variance."
  The second goal was for the city to eventually reconsider its breed ban.
