Defending state champ returns for ’Cats

NASHUA – Nicole Heeren, the defending discus champion in Class 1A, will attempt to repeat, but the North Butler senior will have her work cut out for her.

Heeren was third in the discus at the state qualifying meet at Nashua, having to wait for an at-large bid on Friday after throwing 119 feet, 2 inches.

She also was the state runner-up in the shot put a year ago and also had to wait for an at-large spot after finishing fourth with an effort of 35-9.75.
