Darwin Dale Fecht, 79

Darwin Dale Fecht, age 79, of Allison, Iowa, died Friday, December 16, 2022, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, surrounded by his loving family. 

Darwin was born on July 26, 1943, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of John and Lottie (Wessels) Fecht.  He was raised in Allison and graduated from the Allison Bristow High School in 1961.  On December 11, 1966, Darwin was united in marriage to Joyce Boldt at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli, Iowa.  After graduating from high school Darwin worked construction for a while then worked with his dad at Fecht Service Station in Allison.  His dad retired in the early 1970’s and Darwin bought the service station.  Darwin retired in 2010 and sold the business to his son Tony. 

Darwin was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Allison, where he was baptized in 2020.  He also was a forty-three-year member of the Allison Fire Department and drove the Allison Ambulance for several years.  Darwin’s greatest enjoyment was his family, he loved watching Trevor race and spending time with his grandchildren.  He liked fishing and hunting, and taught hunter safety for many years.  You could also find him watching sports, his favorite teams were Green Bay Packers and the Yankees, however, he would root for any team his kids were interested in. 

Darwin’s memory is honored by: his wife Joyce Fecht of Allison; son Tony (Darcy) Fecht of Allison; three daughters, Cindy (Joe) Van Cleave of Whispering Pines, North Carolina, Nicki (Cary) Craig of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Leslie (David) Fessler of Palo, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Allie (Jake), Ashley (Zach), Trevor (Megan), Connor (Sierra), McKenzie, Collin, Cassidy, Cole, Ethan, and Lauren; and five great-grandchildren, Thea, Rylee, Owen, Isla, and one on the way.  Darwin was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bette Winkel. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, at Trinity Reformed Church in Allison from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday December 21, at Trinity Reformed Church in Allison.  Burial will follow at the Allison Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Allison Food Pantry and online condolences may be left atwww.kaisercorson.com.  Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family with arrangements 319-352-1187.
