If you see movie cameras rolling in Shell Rock at the end of this month, chances are you’re watching Micah Versemann and his crew at work.
Versemann, a young Christian filmmaker from Waverly and founder of Brothers in Christ Productions, will be producing his seventh movie, Crave, in the Cedar Valley.
Shell Rock was chosen as a filming location for some of the movie scenes, since as a smaller town it has less traffic to cause sound issues or logistical issues for the film crew. Various alleys around town work well with the storyline and fit the mood well.
Crave’s plot follows Olivia, just starting her freshmen year of college. Adjusting to changes, she gets distracted from much of what had been her spiritual foundation in life. When hard times come, she has to figure out what she’s rooted in. The focus of the film is the importance of staying rooted in the Word of God. The movie is designed as a ministry tool for churches, and has a target audience of high school and college-age youth.
