At the Clarksville city council meeting Monday evening, Jackson Lucky Clovers 4-H Club members and parents asked about the possibility of growing a community garden next year.
“People in the community have asked about it, and different towns certainly have great stories on how well it has worked out,” said Holly Wedeking.
Jessica Lovrien mentioned raised beds could be built, and they could work with ISU extension and 4-H resources. Councilman Jeff Kolb asked if other clubs would be involved as well. Girl Scout Leader Briana Jacobsen said there are about 20 girls in scouts, and they are always looking for community service projects to help with.
Councilman Jeff Kolb and Kenneth Smith will form a committee to work with the Lucky Clovers and the city attorney on a lease agreement for buyout properties to help get the project ready to go by spring.
