The grand opening for the Clarksville Splashpad was celebrated Saturday, August 12, as Volunteer Park commemorates its 25th anniversary this year. The grand opening is the culmination of two years of dedicated effort from Splashpad committee chair Cindy Wedeking and members Ann Moon, Sarah Jordan and Matt Kampman.
Clarksville residents gathered for a picnic—complete with hot dogs from Orly’s and cookies from Baking Memories—as children congregated to enjoy the splashpad and playground.
Mayor Val Swinton presented Wedeking with a blue water-drop shaped plaque from the city council in recognition of her unwavering commitment and time to make the Clarksville Splashpad a reality for local children to enjoy for years to come.
“Anything that focuses on family time is a benefit to our community,” said councilman Travis Sterken. “It’s exciting for kids, obviously popular and well done.”
