Carol Diane Arjes, 76
Carol Diane Arjes, 76, of Greene, passed away at her home Saturday, February 1, 2025. Carol was born October 8, 1948, in Waverly, Iowa a daughter of William and Hermina (Henning) Shreve. She graduated from Dumont High School.
On April 12, 1969 she was united in marriage with Delvin John Arjes. This union was blessed with 2 wonderful sons and another son.
Carol worked as a cook at Liebe Care Center and the Greene Community School District until retiring as the head cook at the high school. Her favorite part of working at the school was forming friendships with the kids and watching them grow. Many invited her to their graduations, even well after her retirement. She made the effort to make it to every one she could.
Carol was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. With her husband Delvin, Carol enjoyed visiting relatives and traveling around the area for day trips and visiting antique shops, returning home every night. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word games. The most important times to her later in her life were spending time with her grandchildren.
Family members include sons: Jon (Ketta) Arjes, Webster City; Jason Arjes, Greene; Jim (Shannon) Arjes, Waverly; grandchildren: Blake Arjes; Megan Arjes; Allison Arjes; sisters: Vada Shreve, Allison; Kathy (Chuck) Smith, Allison; brother-in-law: Darvin (Cheryle) Arjes, Greene; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Delvin, her parents, Delvin’s parents John and Mary Arjes, brothers and sisters-in-laws: Robert (Marguerite) Shreve and Darwin (JoAnn) Shreve.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2025, followed by a prayer service at Woodley Funeral Home, 519 N. 1st St., Greene, Iowa. Those wishing to send a symbol of sympathy may consider donations to the Greene Volunteer Ambulance or Greene Fire Department in her memory.
