Butler Relay for Life teams raise $58,000

Predicted rainy weather held off for a large crowd at Butler County’s Relay for Life Friday night.

Funds raised for the event are destined for research, advocacy, treatment and education. An unofficial total of $58,000 was reported, with funds raised going to cancer research, advocacy, treatment and education.

Leanne Schipper organized the silent auction items, and Jeff and Cindy Kolb provided sound equipment for music and announcements.

Boy Scouts, also members of relay teams, raised the flag, accompanied by Maddie Poppe’s rendition of The National Anthem. Pastor Linda Myron of Immanuel United Church of Christ gave the invocation.
