Judi Poppen of Allison and Patty Olmstead of Shell Rock found out they were related.

The Butler County Genealogical Society members happened to be distant cousins.

Through monthly genealogical meetings at the Clarksville Public Library, the two began discussing family and comparing notes.

Hashing through lineage trees, Poppen’s husband, Doug, and Olmstead linked up as fifth cousins.

Doug’s grandmother, Bertha (Folkers) Poppen, was a sister of Alfred Folkers. And, Alfred is Olmstead’s grandfather. Through a software program, the two are now connected.
