The Butler County Farm Bureau’s intern this summer, Alexis Karsjens, has a passion for agriculture, a keen interest in writing, and a deep connection with Butler County.
Growing up on her family’s farm near Parkersburg, Karsjens learned the value of hard work, dedication and responsibility.
She’s putting those values to good use in her new position. As intern, Karsjen’s duties include writing content for the Farm Bureau, blogging at www.thebutleracres.wordpress.com and participating in member outreach.
Karsjens hopes to interview farmers and non-traditional agricultural producers to learn more about their farming practices. She recently visited New Day Dairy, where Dan and Lynn Bolin are building a bed and breakfast dairy experience, and stopped by Whistling Thistle Farmstead, where Stephen and Nellie Kaus operate a CSA vegetable farm and produce stand.
