Mother Nature tried, but she didn't win Friday night as weather threatened to close down ACS Relay For Life of Butler County in Allison before it got underway. A decision to move the event indoors was made possible by so many people who must know how grateful the Relay Committee is for their help.  Fairground facilities including the show arena, Henning Brothers building and livestock building were used to facilitate a great indoor Relay!
Butler County Fair board - Randal and Edward Johnson, Jeff Kolb, Ron and Russell Henning, Butler County Emergency Management, many volunteers, various relay team members and of course, the Committee, all came together to re-set the event in just a few hours.
Funds raised for the event are destined for research, advocacy, treatment and education. While the official totals are not yet in, Butler County put on a very successful Relay with the last reported total of $65,365 plus.
The silent auction moved into the Henning Bros. building with a large number of items. This was organized by Leanne Schipper and was highly popular again this year. Schipper stated that this weather situation ended up being an adventure for her and her team! Final totals will be released this week.
