“Bristow used to have the biggest celebration in Butler County,” said Larry Hinders at the tractor and pickup pull at the Bristow Fun Days on July 29.
For a town with a population of 158, the celebration, which Hinders said was originally held to remember a tornado, was still, quite literally, a roaring good time.
After breakfast at the fire shed, residents were treated to plenty of candy for dessert, as local businesses, Miss Bristow Karlie Klingenborg, State Senator Amanda Ragan, the sheriff, fire trucks, veterans, local clubs, tractors and horseback riders rode through town in the annual parade. Long-time resident Doug Sidmore was recognized, along with Grand Marshals Kevin and Vicky Reints.
Larry and Karen Cornwall’s Bristow Memories museum drew visitors, and Sally Schneiderman’s Little Valley Church was open for guests.
