JANESVILLE – North Butler’s volleyball accepted the challenge it faced in the Class 1A Region 4 semifinal on Thursday, Oct. 25.
Amped up to play the top-ranked team in the class and a team which has won the state title the last three years, the Bearcats may have come out with too much energy in starting out in the 3-0 sweep by the home team.
The first four North Butler serves, something it had excelled at in the quarterfinal game just three days before, failed to come into play as Janesville won 25-12, 25-10, 25-10.
“I don’t think we’ve done that in a game all year,” North Butler coach Laura Schwickerath said of the early serving woes. “And I think that was adrenaline and nerves.”
