GREENE – With Friday’s convincing 68-45 victory over St. Ansgar, the Class 2A No. 11 North Butler girls basketball took sole possession of first place in the Corn Bowl Conference.

The Bearcats had solid balance with four players in double figures, led by Marisa Speedy’s 15 points.

“It takes a lot of pressure off us to get a little extra space,” Speedy said. “It was definitely a good game – St. Ansgar is really a good team and definitely up there to win the conference, so it was good to get the win.”

Joining Speedy in double-digit scoring were Channing Wunsch with 14, Jenny Rottler with 12 and Lisa Feldman scored 10.
