DES MOINES – Despite throwing two straight personal bests in the discus final, North Butler’s Haley Landers couldn’t hide her disappointment at finishing third in the Class 1A event on Friday, May 22.
Last year’s state runner-up, Landers entered this year’s field with the top throw and the favorite.
“I’m really upset for coming up short,” Landers said, “but you know it happens sometimes. Sometimes you don’t have enough and it doesn’t bounce your way. But I’m really happy to throw my best two times in a row and breaking the school record again.”
