Austinville church seeks DNR grant to address old school building

AUSTINVILLE - The future of a defunct Butler County school building may be decided through an Iowa Department of Natural Resources program. The Butler County Supervisors on Tuesday voted to submit a letter of recommendation to the DNR’s Derelict Building Program to support grant funding for the removal of the Austinville school building. The Derelict Building Program offers small communities financial assistance to address neglected structures. Built in 1916, the building served the community until the late 1960’s. It then changed ownership several times and was used as a front for a variety of businesses. Read more in the April 13 edition of the Tribune.
