Brothers Carl R. “Bob” and Milt Hoodjer started Hoodjer Excavating in 1982 and closed the business to retire in 2016. Their finds over the years, along with those of Chris Hoodjer Construction (established in 1945), are the subject of an exhibit on display through the end of February at the Clarksville Public Library.
Their experience, as told to the Star, informs town history.
Bob Hoodjer’s uncle, Chris Hoodjer, started Hoodjer Construction in 1945 and retired in 1982. Carl R. “Bob” started working with Chris, and his own father, Carl L. “Cub” Hoodjer in 1968 at (Chris) Hoodjer Construction.
Bob’s brother Milt started in the 1970s at Hoodjer Construction before becoming a partner at Hoodjer Excavating. “When I say we,” Bob said, a term he used throughout the interview, “I mean, Milt and I, Chris and my dad Carl (L.) ‘Cub.’ “
Bob Hoodjer discussed some of the interesting things they found over the years.
