All Veterans Memorial dedicated

The All Veterans Memorial in Allison was dedicated on Saturday, and with that, a project which began on Memorial Day of last year with its first donation was seen to completion.
     Dedication of the memorial was attended by many Butler County residents, including U.S. Senator Charles Grassley.
     State senators Amanda Ragan and Bill Dix, state representative Linda Upmeyer, Allison Councilman Jerry Platter and pastors Charles Underwood of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville and Kyle Barton of St. James Lutheran Church in Allison were all present, as well as honor guards and military drill teams from throughout the county.
     The memorial, featuring a five-sided obelisk, five stones with military emblems and flag poles, is located on Main Street near the Butler County Courthouse on land donated by the Virgil and Dana Shepard family.
