After the storm — Forester answers 'Is this tree worth saving?'

CLARKSVILLE — There are two main considerations when deciding whether a storm-damaged tree poses a hazard.
  First, is there a problem with the tree? Second, is there a target that it will damage if it falls?
  District Forester Joe Herring, of Hardin County, has seen fist-sized hail and 100 mph winds. Moreover, Herring assesses storm damage as part of his job. He spoke of assessing damaged trees at a Clarksville Trees Forever meeting March 19 in the Clarksville Public Library.
