16,000 roll through town

Surge upon surge of RAGBRAI cyclists came and went through town last Thursday; during day five of the 42nd annual bike ride across Iowa.

Several bikers dropped in to town for a few hours, eventually making their way 12.5 miles to stay overnight in Waverly.

Jeff Kolb, Clarksville’s RAGBRAI Committee chairman the past three years, compared this one to ’99.

“This was the same route as in ’99, and we did things differently to run smoother,” he said. “It’s hard to compare to 2010, because we were the first stop for breakfast, and it was a different route.
