14 Clarksville students visit DC

Fourteen Clarksville High School students in the classes of 2017 and 2018 were able to take the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., to learn firsthand about government and history, earlier this month.
Clarksville social studies teacher Chris Arians is in his second year coordinating the trip locally.
Highlights for the students, Arians said, included:
U.S. SENATE: Students watched fl oor debate in the U.S. Senate, as Sen. Joni Ernst spoke on a bill for the National Defense Authorization Act.
Students met with Sens. Chuck Grassley and Ernst for 45 minutes and questioned the Republican senators about college affordability, term limits and how to run a successful campaign.
